The District intended to redirect property tax income from the LibertyLand project in North Rapid City to surrounding infrastructure, however following a significant backlash from members of the community and a significant petition campaign, the issue of the TIF district went to a vote today.

No Free Rides Rapid City has said that their stance against the district does not represent a stance against TIFs as a tool, but originates in concerns with a 47-Million-dollar partition of the TIF which appears to be for internal use, and holds that this represents a subsidy to the project.

Pete Lien & Sons and Storyland Studios, the organizations behind the LibertyLand project have not issued a statement on these results at the time of writing.
