Deadwood woman sentenced for fatal pedestrian crash

DEADWOOD, S.D. – A 27-year-old woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday for fatally striking a pedestrian in Deadwood.

Brittany Sneesby was accused of hitting 38-year-old Brandon Pressley with a vehicle while under the influence. The incident happened in December of 2023.

Prosecutors said Sneesby was going 52 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone when she struck Pressley while he was crossing Highway 14A near the intersection of Main Street.

When she was pulled over by police, prosecutors said her blood alcohol content level was measured at .181.

Sneesby was sentenced to ten years in the state penitentiary, with the judge suspending five of those years.

In addition, her privilege to drive was revoked for ten years.
