DEADWOOD, S.D. — Country artist Chancey Williams will headline the Deadwood Red Dirt Music Festival on Friday, January 16 at the Deadwood Mountain Grand, kicking off a two-night celebration of Red Dirt and country music.

Williams joined The Roadhouse Show to talk about returning to western South Dakota, an area he calls one of his strongest fan bases. “We always love coming to western South Dakota, especially Deadwood,” Williams said. “It’s our hardcore fan base, and we’re super stoked to get up there again.”

Friday night’s lineup features Walker Montgomery and Cody Cozz joining Williams on stage. Williams said headlining the festival is especially meaningful after appearing in past years as a supporting act. “We’ve played that festival a few times over the years, so it’ll be fun to headline it this year,” he said. “We’re friends with Walker and Cody, so it’s going to be a great night.”

The performance comes as Williams continues to build momentum from his recent album, Miles on Me, while preparing to release new music in the coming months. “We’ve got another full album recorded and ready to go,” Williams said. “We’re going to start releasing new stuff right around the first of the year.”

Williams also laughed about the frequent mispronunciation of his name. “It’s Chancey for sure,” he said. “It’s just ‘chance’ with a Y, but I get Chauncey, Clancy, everything.”

The festival continues Saturday, January 17, with performances by Braxton Keith, Southall and The Kruse Brothers, rounding out a full weekend of live music in Deadwood. Catch the live interview with The Roadhouse Show on KAT Country 98.7, 93.9 The Mix or Bounced From The Roadhouse podcast
