RAPID CITY, SD – The Rushmore Swim Team is preparing for the peak of its competitive calendar as the South Dakota short course season moves into its final weeks. Following months of preparation that began in September, the team will host the South Dakota Short Course Rising Stars Meet from February 13-15 at the Roosevelt Swim Center.
The upcoming event in Rapid City serves as a critical last-chance qualifying window for athletes aiming to reach State A time standards. Beyond time trials, competitors can secure a golden ticket by finishing in the top two positions of their respective events, which earns them an automatic entry into the State A Championship meets.
This year, the championship series is split across two weekends in different host cities. The 12 and Under Short Course State A Championship is scheduled for February 20-22 in Aberdeen, while the 13 and Over Short Course State A Championship will take place from February 26-March 1 in Mitchell.
Team officials noted that the Rising Stars Meet is a culmination of the dedication shown by the Rushmore Tsunami athletes throughout the winter months. Admission to the event at the Roosevelt Swim Center is free to the public.
