RAPID CITY, SD — Rapid City Area Schools will host a library ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, at 10:45 a.m., celebrating the completion of Central High School’s library improvements, which reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to improving its schools and learning environments.

The library renovation project has been underway since this summer. It includes long-awaited updates to the space—most notably the removal of the green carpet, creating a refreshed, modern learning environment better serving students and staff.

Following the ribbon cutting, a community open house will be held. Community members, families, and guests are invited to tour the library, explore its resources, and learn more about how the space supports student learning. Guests are asked to enter through the main entrance upon arrival.

Students from the National Honor Society (NHS) will be on hand to provide guided tours, answer questions, and help welcome visitors.

“This project reflects our commitment to continually improving our schools and creating spaces that support learning, collaboration, and student success,” said Dr. Jami Jo Thompson, superintendent of Rapid City Area Schools.

Media and community members are encouraged to attend.
