HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – A multi-agency manhunt that spanned several days and mobilized dozens of law enforcement officers across Western South Dakota ended Wednesday afternoon with the successful apprehension of Jeremy Taylor.

Law enforcement officials located Taylor at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 in an outbuilding near a residence in Fall River County. Taylor was taken into custody without further incident.

Taylor was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Ohio for gross sexual contact. Additionally, he faces local charges in Pennington County for eluding and simple assault on law enforcement.

The apprehension followed an intensive search involving hundreds of personnel-hours. Agencies involved in the coordinated effort included the U.S. Marshals, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Rapid City Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Fall River County Sheriff’s Office, Hot Springs Police Department, Hot Springs Ambulance, Pennington County Dispatch, U.S. Forest Service, and Mt. Rushmore Park Rangers.

“His apprehension is the result of hundreds of personnel-hours, and law enforcement working around the clock across a multitude of agencies,” officials stated following the arrest.

The Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude for the community’s involvement, noting that dozens of tips from the public aided the investigation.

“On behalf of everyone involved in the search, we are gracious to bring this incident to a safe resolution,” law enforcement representatives said in a joint statement.

Taylor is currently being held as he awaits legal proceedings for his warrants in both South Dakota and Ohio.
