DEADWOOD, S.D. — A former Deadwood city commissioner has found himself in trouble again, after being charged with first degree burglary and new charges of violating a no contact order.
Blake Joseph was charged with burglary following an incident in which he allegedly broke into an apartment in Belle Fourche.
Court documents show Joseph and a female, identified as Emily Kutil from Deadwood, were passengers in a vehicle in which the driver was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.
Joseph and Kutil drove the vehicle back to the owner’s residence, with her permission, to prevent it from being towed.
On Jan. 2, the driver said that upon her release from jail and return to her Belle Fourche residence, she allegedly found Joseph and Kutil inside her apartment without her knowledge or permission to enter.
The two are accused of stealing personal property from the victim as well as allegedly using the victim’s credit card.
A warrant was issued for Joseph and Kutil’s arrest in Butte County Wednesday. Their bond was each set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Joseph is also facing a charge of violating a no contact order with an alleged victim in a domestic violence case. The no contact order was part of a bond agreement following Joseph’s arrest on January 15.
This marks the third charge of violating the no contact order with the alleged victim.
