BHSU Basketball; men, women defeat UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Despite an early tie midway through the first quarter, the Black Hills State University women’s basketball team kept with their theme of taking control of the game early as they cruised to a 72-44 win at UCCS in a battle of 2-0 RMAC teams.

The Yellow Jackets never trailed in the match-up, leading for a total of 38:07 of game time as they used a dominant 41-9 scoring run midway through the game to create separation as they shot 62.5 percent from the field compared to just 18.2 percent for the Mountain Lions during the nearly 19 minute stretch from late in the first quarter to late in the third quarter.

Meanwhile,

When it comes to free basketball Black Hills State University has seen their fair share of success, and Thursday night in the Gallogly Events Center was no different as a 95-89 victory marked the Yellow Jackets fifth consecutive overtime win dating back to the 2021-22 season.

In order to get to the extra period, BHSU had to weather the storm of a 19-0 Mountain Lion run that stretch from the first half into the second and gave them a double digit lead, however Cam Lowe caught fire from deep as he scored 25 of his career-high 28 points in the second half and overtime which included five baskets from beyond the arc.
