RAPID CITY, S.D. – Authorities have identified the man who died in a crash in Scenic on Friday morning.
Preliminary crash information indicates 37-year-old Nicholas Wayne Foltz from California, the driver of a 2001 Mercedes Benz C-Class, was traveling southbound on Bombing Range Road near Sheep Mountain Road.
The vehicle left the roadway to the right and overturned several times in the ditch.
A passenger in the front seat, 25-year-old Thomas John Barlese of Kyle, was partially ejected during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Foltz sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Foltz was arrested for Vehicular Homicide and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drug or Intoxicant.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
