Gilgeous-Alexander scores 30 points as Thunder top Trail Blazers 124-95

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points in three quarters and the Oklahoma City Thunder rolled past the Portland Trail Blazers 124-95 for their third straight win. Ajay Mitchell scored 17 points off the bench, and Jalen Williams had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Chet Holmgren added 12 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high six blocks for Oklahoma City, which converted 25 Portland turnovers into 28 points. Gilgeous-Alexander scored at least 20 points for the 105th consecutive game. Mitchell made all four of his field goal attempts and all eight free throws. Sidy Cissoko scored 19 points for Portland.

Texas Tech alum Patrick Mahomes cheers Red Raiders on to victory in Game 2 of the WCWS

Texas Tech evened up the finals of the Women’s College World Series on Thursday night with one of the Red Raiders’ biggest supporters on hand. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and former Texas Tech signal caller Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, cheered on the Red Raiders, who hung on to beat Texas 4-3 in Game 2 of the series behind the solid pitching of NiJaree Canady, forcing a decisive third game on Friday night. Both teams will be trying to win their first national championship. “Come on!!! Let’s go!” Mahomes posted on social media during the game, which started 50 minutes late because of storms.

Atwood’s hit on intentional walk attempt gives Texas a 2-1 win over Texas Tech in WCWS finals opener

Reese Atwood hit a go-ahead, two-run single for Texas when Texas Tech ace NiJaree Canady was trying to walk her intentionally in the sixth inning, and the Longhorns beat the Red Raiders 2-1 in Game 1 of the Women’s College World Series finals. Teagan Kavan pitched a three-hitter for Texas, which can secure its first national title with a victory in Game 2 on Thursday night. Texas Tech would have to win two straight to claim its first championship in its first WCWS appearance. The Red Raiders scored with the help of an obstruction call in the fifth inning.
