Government lawyer yanked from immigration detail in Minnesota after telling judge ‘this job sucks’

A government lawyer who told a judge that her job “sucks” during a court hearing stemming from the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement surge in Minnesota has been removed from her Justice Department post. That’s according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity. The person said Julie Le had been working for the Justice Department on a detail from another government agency, but the U.S. attorney in Minnesota ended her detail after her comments in court on Tuesday. A hearing transcript says Le told U.S. District Judge Jerry Blackwell that she wishes he could hold her in contempt of court so she could get “a full 24 hours of sleep.”

Ed Martin removed as head of Justice Department’s ‘Weaponization Working Group’

Ed Martin has been removed as head of the Justice Department group tasked with scrutinizing the federal prosecutions of President Donald Trump. That’s according to a person familiar with the matter. Martin remains the department’s pardon attorney. But the person who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an internal personnel matter said Martin is no longer working out of Justice Department headquarters. Martin previously served as acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, but Trump yanked his nomination after a key Republican senator said he could not support Martin for the job. Martin was a leading advocate for rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Pam Bondi fires Justice Department employee accused of throwing sandwich at federal agent

A man charged with a felony for hurling a sandwich at a federal law-enforcement official in the nation’s capital has been fired from his job at the Justice Department. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a social media post on Thursday that the department has fired the 37-year-old man, Sean Charles Dunn. A video of Dunn berating a group of federal agents late Sunday went viral. A court filing says Dunn was arrested on an assault charge after he threw a “sub-style” sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection agent. The incident came as Trump stepped up the federal law enforcement presence in the city but before his takeover of the police department.
