Spurs beat free-falling Pacers 123-113 without Wembanyama

De’Aaron Fox scored 24 points and the San Antonio Spurs won their first game since Victor Wembanyama injured his left knee, beating the Indiana 123-113 on Friday night for the Pacers’ 11th straight loss. Wembanyama hyperextended his knee Wednesday night in a home victory over New York. An MRI showed no ligament damage and the 7-foot-4 center stayed in San Antonio to rehabilitate the injury. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said Wembanyama is day-to-day but wouldn’t rule out the possibility he could play against Portland on Saturday night in San Antonio. The Spurs are 10-3 with Wembanyama doesn’t play. Dylan Harper added 22 points for the Spurs, and Stephon Castle had 19. Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

‘It was an avalanche’: No. 10 Iowa State blows out No. 1 Purdue in record-tying road win

Milan Momcilovic scored 20 points and Iowa State sank 11 3-pointers to propel No. 10 Iowa State to a dominant 81-58 win over No. 1 Purdue. Momcilovic, Killyan Toure and Joshua Jefferson all hit three 3-pointers. Toure scored 13, Blake Buchanan 12, and Jefferson 11 for the Cyclones. Iowa State shot 59% in the second half. Leading 35-31 at halftime, the Cyclones used an 11-0 run to take a 48-33 lead with 17:17 left. Braden Smith led Purdue with 11 points and Oscar Cluff and Daniel Jacobsen each scored 10.

Mitchell scores 43 points to lead Cavaliers to 135-119 win over Pacers

Donovan Mitchell scored 43 points to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 135-119 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Mitchell, who made 16 of 27 shots from the field, also had nine rebounds and six assists. Jaylon Tyson added 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting and a team-high 11 rebounds. Evan Mobley and DeAndre Hunter each scored 13 for the Cavs. Pascal Siakam had 26 points for Indiana, and Andrew Nembhard scored 21. Garrison Mathews, who signed a second 10-day contract Monday with the Pacers, added 15 points — hitting all three of his attempts from 3-point range. Jay Huff also scored 15.

Pacers snap season-opening 5-game losing streak with a 114-109 win over the Warriors

Quenton Jackson scored 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as the Indiana Pacers snapped a season-opening five-game losing streak with a 114-109 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. Aaron Nesmith scored 31 and Pascal Siakam added 27 for the Pacers. Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 24 points. Jimmy Butler scored 20 points and Jonathan Kuminga 17 for Golden State.
