Founder of bankrupt subprime auto lender Tricolor Holdings is charged with fraud
The founder of Tricolor Holdings and other company executives have been charged with what federal authorities say was a massive fraud that led to the subprime auto lender’s bankruptcy. Daniel Chu, the company’s founder and chief executive, was charged in an indictment unsealed in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday. The indictment accuses Chu of directing multiple executives since 2018 to defraud investors and lending institutions through various fraudulent schemes. A defense lawyer has not responded to a message seeking comment.
