RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City’s Summer Nights concert series is moving.
The Rapid City Council voted unanimously Monday night to approve the event’s permit, but it must relocate the popular event to a new downtown location—one that won’t shut down Main Street or St. Joseph Street.
The decision comes after weeks of debate.
Several businesses say the street closures brought traffic disruptions that negatively affected them.
But, supporters say Summer Nights boosts tourism and community spirit.
The new location hasn’t been decided yet, but city leaders say the goal is to keep the event alive while reducing its impact on traffic.
