The Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. is returning to South Carolina for a final public farewell. On Monday, Jackson will lie in state at the capitol in Columbia. The tribute contrasts with his childhood in segregated Greenville. In 1960, Jackson led Black students into a whites-only library to read until police arrested them. That protest started his civil rights career. After the South Carolina services, Jackson’s body is expected to be taken back to Chicago before a final set of services at his Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s Chicago headquarters. Jackson died on Feb. 17 at age 84.
Luka Doncic had 28 points and nine assists, LeBron James added 24 points and the Los Angeles Lakers finished a back-to-back set with a 128-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings. Austin Reaves scored 12 points for the Lakers, who also won at Golden State on Saturday to end a three-game skid. Nique Clifford scored 26 points for the Kings in their fourth consecutive loss at the Lakers’ downtown arena. Russell Westbrook had 14 points in his hometown.
Cutter Gauthier scored twice in regulation, Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish both converted in the shootout, and the Anaheim Ducks beat the Calgary Flames 3-2. Lukas Dostal made 32 saves and denied Matvei Gridin on the final shot of the tiebreaker to seal Anaheim’s eighth straight win at home. The Ducks improved to 14-3 in games that have gone to overtime. McTavish slid the puck through Devin Cooley’s legs for the shootout winner. Joel Farabee and Yegor Sharangovich scored for the Flames in regulation, and Cooley stopped 34 shots.
Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the New Orleans Pelicans 137-117 on Sunday night to end a three-game losing streak. Tenth in the Western Conference, the Clippers improved to 28-31. The Pelicans are 13th in the West at 19-43. New Orleans star Zion Williamson sat out after injuring his right ankle at Utah on Saturday night. He had played a career-high 35 straight games. Los Angeles never trailed, stretching the margin to 26 in the fourth quarter. Jordan Miller added 19 points for the Clippers. Jeremiah Fears led New Orleans with 28 points, hitting 5 of 6 3-pointers.
Neemias Queta scored a career-high 27 points and added 17 rebounds to help the Boston Celtics recover from a slow start and rally past the Philadelphia 76ers 114-98. Jaylen Brown added 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Derrick White finished with 21 points and eight assists as the Celtics became the fourth team to reach 40 victories. They have won six of seven. It was Queta’s 11th double-double this season. He also had three blocks. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points and six assists. VJ Edgecombe added 23 points as Philadelphia’s three-game win streak was snapped.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points, Chet Holmgren had 19 points and nine rebounds and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Dallas Mavericks 100-87 on Sunday night. Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 20 points in 59 consecutive road games, the longest streak in NBA history. The reigning NBA MVP played his second game after missing nine because of an abdominal strain. The defending champion Thunder are 47-15, a half-game behind Detroit for the NBA lead. They have a three-game lead in West over second-place San Antonio. The Mavericks, with star rookie Cooper Flagg among three regular starters sidelined, were held to a season low in points. Caleb Martin scored a season-high 18 points for Dallas.
Lionel Messi scored twice in a four-goal second half, defender Telasco Segovia added a goal and two assists and defending champion Inter Miami rallied to beat Orlando City 4-2, winning for the first time at Inter&Co Stadium. Messi took a pass from Segovia and scored in the 57th minute to pull Inter Miami even at 2-2 and Segovia scored unassisted in the 85th for the lead. Messi put the finishing touch on the victory when he scored off a free kick in the 90th. The reigning MVP’s first two goals of the season give him 52 in his first 55 regular-season MLS matches — 51 of them in his last 49 appearances.

Sam Bennett scored twice and Sandis Vilmanis and Sam Reinhart also had goals for Florida, which lost its second in a row. Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves.
Azzi Fudd scored 14 points and Allie Ziebell added 13 to help No. 1 UConn rout St. John’s 85-49 at Madison Square Garden for its 47th consecutive victory. The Huskies matched the fifth-longest winning streak in women’s Division I history, equaling UConn’s run from 2013-15. With the regular season complete, UConn is 31-0 overall and 20-0 in the Big East. The Huskies have an average victory margin of nearly 38 points, which is the third largest margin in Division I history — trailing only two other Huskies teams. The game drew 9,612 fans, most of whom cheered for the Huskies.
James Harden made a successful return for the Cleveland Cavaliers even though he’s still recovering from a broken thumb. Harden had 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in Cleveland’s 106-102 victory at the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday. The 11-time All-Star went 4 for 7 from 3-point range. The 36-year-old Harden missed two games after fracturing his right thumb during Tuesday night’s 109-94 win over the New York Knicks. Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson says Harden is “not 100 percent” but he says the team needed the 11-time All-Star. Harden is averaging 19.3 points in eight games since Cleveland acquired him in a trade.

Jalen Duren added 16 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit. Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 24 points and 11 rebounds, but also had nine turnovers.

Jonathan Kuminga had 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Hawks, who reached .500 for the first time since Dec. 23. They have won four straight games by an average of 26.5 points and moved into ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Kuminga played his third game for the Hawks since being traded by Golden State. He is averaging 21.3 points and 7.7 rebounds with Atlanta after barely playing for the Warriors. Jrue Holiday scored 23 points for Portland. Donovan Clingan had 15 points, 15 rebounds and a team-high five assists.

Early winners include Keri Russell for “The Diplomat” and Seth Rogen for “The Studio.” The stunt performers of the last “Mission: Impossible” film and “The Last of Us” series won the stunt ensemble awards.
Colorado quarterback Dominiq Ponder has died in a single-car crash. He was 23. The Colorado State Patrol says Ponder was driving a 2023 Tesla when he lost control on a curve and hit a guardrail. The car struck an electrical line pole and rolled down an embankment. Ponder was pronounced dead at the scene in Boulder County. The Colorado State Patrol says a preliminary investigation “shows that speed is suspected as a factor.” Colorado coach Deion Sanders says Ponder was one of his favorites. He says Ponder was loved and respected.
No. 2 UCLA has completed the first undefeated regular season in Big Ten women’s basketball in 11 years. Charlisse Leger-Walker matched her season high with 20 points as the Bruins routed Southern California 73-50 on Sunday. UCLA went 18-0 in Big Ten play to equal Maryland’s feat from 2014-15. The Bruins haven’t lost since Nov. 26, when they were beaten by then-No. 4 Texas. Earlier Sunday, the Bruins were projected as one of the four No. 1 seeds for the women’s NCAA Tournament in a second early reveal by the selection committee. Undefeated UConn was the No. 1 overall seed.
The United States women’s national team has secured its sixth straight shutout victory. Lindsey Heaps had a goal and an assist, and Jaedyn Shaw also scored in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Argentina in the SheBelieves Cup in Nashville, Tennessee. The U.S. has outscored opponents 27-1 over its past seven games. Coach Emma Hayes’ squad hasn’t lost since falling 2-1 to Portugal in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 23. Lily Reale exited the game after being treated for a right leg injury. During stoppage time, Argentina’s Milagros Martín was assessed a yellow card for shoving Trinity Rodman in the back.
Pavel Buchnevich scored late in the third period and the St. Louis Blues snapped a 10-game road losing streak by beating the Minnesota Wild 3-1. Logan Mailloux and Alexey Toropchenko also scored for St. Louis and Joel Hofer stopped 22 shots. Kirill Kaprizov scored to tie Marian Gaborik for the most goals in Wild franchise history with 218. Filip Gustavsson made 21 saves, but Minnesota lost its second straight after six straight wins. It was the first time in 42 games this season that Minnesota lost when allowing three or fewer goals in regulation.

Taylor Hendricks scored 19 points, Jaylen Wells had 18 and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Indiana Pacers 125-106 on Sunday. Olivier-Maxence Prosper added 17 points, and Scotty Pippen Jr. and Ryan Rupert each had 16 to help Memphis sweep the season series for the third time in five years. Jarace Walker led Indiana with 21 points, and Micah Potter had 18. Memphis took a 77-66 advantage four minutes into the third period. The Grizzlies were without guard Ja Morant for the 17th consecutive game because of a left elbow injury.
Oil prices rose sharply when market trading began Sunday. The price hikes came as U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and retaliatory strikes against Israel and U.S. military installations around the Gulf sent disruptions through the global energy supply chain. According to FactSet, a barrel of Brent crude, the international standard, was trading at around $79 per barrel Sunday night, up about 8% from $72.87 on Friday. Traders were betting the supply of oil from Iran and elsewhere in the region could slow or grind to a halt. Also, countries that are part of the OPEC+ oil cartel have announced they will boost production of crude oil.
Three U.S. service members have been killed and five others seriously wounded during the attacks on Iran. They’re the first American casualties in the offensive that’s sparked retaliation from the Islamic Republic. The three who were killed were Army soldiers deployed to Kuwait as part of a unit that oversees supplies and logistics. That’s according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke on condition of anonymity. U.S. Central Command announced the deaths Sunday on social media. It said “several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions” and were going to return to duty. President Donald Trump says the operation could likely see more American losses in the coming weeks.
Tyler Reddick became the first driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to win the first three races of the season with a victory Sunday at the Circuit of Americas. Driving a Toyota co-owned by Michael Jordan, Reddick won the season-opening Daytona 500 and a week later at Atlanta, then won from the pole in the first road course race of the year. Reddick held off hard-charging Shane van Gisbergen, the Trackhouse driver and the series’ dominate road driver, over the final 20 laps. Jordan was with Reddick’s 23XI pit crew exchanging high fives as Reddick crossed the finish line. Van Gisbergen lost his bid for a record-tying sixth consecutive road win. Reddick has 11th career victories, also winning at COTA in 2023.
Shane Lowry says he thought he was going to win the Cognizant Classic. He had a three-shot lead with three holes to play, and he could envision his 4-year-old daughter running onto the 18th green to join him. But Lowry hit consecutive tee shots into the water on the 16th and 17th holes and wound up finishing two shots behind winner Nico Echavarria. Lowry doesn’t have an individual win in the United States since 2015. He says he beat himself and it’s going to be a tough loss to get over.
Rapid City suffers first three-game sweep of season
Michael Misa scored 1:40 into overtime, and the San Jose Sharks topped the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 for their second straight win. Misa scored for the second straight game when he drove down the slot before beating Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. It was the fourth goal of the season for the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s NHL draft. Will Smith also scored for San Jose, and Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 27 shots. The Sharks had lost five in a row before Saturday’s 5-4 victory over Edmonton. Morgan Barron scored for Winnipeg, and Hellebuyck finished with 31 saves. The Jets lost for fourth time in five games.
USC says Chad Baker-Mazara is no longer part of its men’s basketball program. The team released a short statement that provided no explanation. Baker-Mazara played Saturday in a loss to No. 12 Nebraska and scored 14 points in the first half. He fell hard near the baseline and didn’t return after playing three minutes in the second half. Coach Eric Musselman says Baker-Mazara told him that he couldn’t go back in. USC was Baker-Mazara’s fifth school in his college career. He helped Auburn reach the Final Four last season. The 26-year-old graduate student is from the Dominican Republic.

Karel Vejmelka stopped 24 shots for Utah. The Mammoth were shut out for the first time at home this season and the fifth time overall.
The Los Angeles Kings have fired coach Jim Hiller after losing five of their past six games and falling out of playoff position. D.J. Smith was named the interim replacement for the rest of the season on Sunday in the first coaching change by general manager Ken Holland, who kept Hiller behind the bench when he took over the front office last May. Hiller was in just his second full season in the charge of the Kings, who looked lifeless in an 8-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Kohler also grabbed 13 rebounds, his 12th double-double of the season as the Michigan State won its fourth straight. Lamar Wilkerson scored 19 of his game-high 29 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Indiana (17-12, 8-10) from a fourth consecutive loss. Tucker DeVries finished with 20 points and six rebounds while Sam Alexis added eight points in a game that Indiana never led.
Nico Echavarria has won the Cognizant Classic after a meltdown by Shane Lowry on the closing stretch at PGA National. Echavarria was three shots back with three holes to play but ended up with a two-shot victory over Lowry on Sunday. The 31-year-old from Colombia shot a 5-under 66 to finish at 17-under 267. It was the third PGA Tour victory and first in the United States for Echavarria, who is heading to the Masters for a second time. Lowry hit his tee shot on the par-4 16th hole into the water, leading to double bogey, and did the same thing on the par-3 17th.
Josh Giddey had 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists for his eighth triple-double this season, and the Chicago Bulls used a 27-0 run to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 120-97 and end an 11-game losing streak. Giddey had his 15th triple-double as a member of the Bulls, tying Scottie Pippen for second on the franchise list. Collin Sexton added 22 points, and Matas Buzelis had 20, helping Chicago come out on top after matching the third-worst skid in franchise history. The Bulls were 0-11 in February and had not won since Jan. 31 at Miami. Bobby Portis scored 18 points for Milwaukee. The Bucks missed 17 straight shots down the stretch in their second straight blowout loss.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have moved a game ahead of Denver in the Western Conference with a 117-108 win over the Nuggets. Anthony Edwards scored 21 points, and Bones Hyland had 15 of his 18 points in the first half on Sunday against his former team. Minnesota swept its three-game trip to improve to 38-23 and jump into fourth in the West, beating Denver for the first time in four games this season. Nikola Jokic finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists but couldn’t carry the Nuggets over their Northwest Division rivals. Denver has lost four of six since the All-Star break.
Marta Suarez had 21 points and 11 rebounds, Olivia Miles scored 19 and No. 11 TCU repeated as the outright Big 12 regular-season champion with a 65-53 victory over No. 18 Baylor. The win Sunday extended the Horned Frogs’ home win streak to 42 games. It was the second year in a row that the in-state rivals played in the conference’s final regular-season game. The 27-4 Frogs won both times to keep from having to share the title with the 24-7 Bears. Taliah Scott had 17 points for Baylor, which had its only lead at 2-0 and finished with a season low in points.
A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that the gunman who killed two people at a bar in Texas early Sunday was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Property of Allah,” and another shirt with an Iranian flag design. The Department of Homeland Security has identified the gunman as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne. Multiple people briefed on the investigation say Diagne is originally from Senegal. The FBI says the shooting that left 14 others wounded is being investigated as a potential act of terrorism. The shooting erupted a day after the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran.
The barrage of U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran came so quickly that they were nearly simultaneous — with three strikes in three locations hitting within a minute. They killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and some 40 senior figures. That’s according to an Israeli military official who spoke on condition of anonymity to more fully detail the attack. A person familiar with the operation said that, before the attacks, the CIA had for months tracked the movements of senior Iranian leaders, including the country’s supreme leader. The intelligence was shared with Israeli officials, and the timing of the strikes was adjusted in part because of that information.
Victor Wembanyama was surprised. His San Antonio Spurs, who were untouchable in February, were unsteady to start March. San Antonio didn’t respond well to the New York Knicks’ defensive pressure Sunday and had its 11-game winning streak snapped with a 114-89 loss. Wembanyama expected the Spurs to stand up better at Madison Square Garden, but instead never recovered from the Knicks’ 26-2 run in the first half. The Spurs were 11-0 in February. They became the first team in NBA history to go unbeaten and score at least 110 points in every game while playing at least 10 in a month.
Vanessa Gilles, Janine Sonis, Sydney Collins and Nichelle Prince scored and Canada beat Colombia 4-1 on Sunday in the opening match of the SheBelieves Cup. Canada ended a five-game losing streak in international play. It will face the United States on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio. Leicy Santos scored for Colombia. It was chippy throughout, with seven yellow cards issued, two to Colombia’s Gisela Robledo, which culminated in a red card.
Spencer and Logan Fano began their football careers like so many brothers — roughhousing in their parents’ backyard. Eventually, the future offensive tackle and defensive end found more effective ways to deploy their physical gifts. They learned the fundamentals of blocking and pass rushing, refined their techniques and continued challenging one another as teammates in pee-wee football, at Timpview High School in Spanish Fork, Utah, and even through their final three college seasons at Utah. But even now, as they prepare to embark on NFL careers, they continue to root for and challenge one another — just like the other football-playing brothers at this week’s scouting combine.
Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey is going to have another operation on his ailing left ankle. The 7-foot-3 Edey has been sidelined since Dec. 7 because of a stress reaction in his ankle. He is averaging 13.6 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks over 11 games in his second season. The team says Edey’s operation is expected to address ongoing discomfort and bone stress. He also had surgery on his left ankle in June after he was voted to the All-Rookie first team. The team says Edey is expected to make a full recovery.
Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone left his team’s game at the Pittsburgh Penguins because of an undisclosed injury. Kris Letang gave Stone a seemingly harmless shove to the left arm with his stick in the neutral zone late in the first period. Stone grimaced in pain, went down to one knee and skated off. The 33-year-old winger has a history of injuries sidelining him throughout his NHL career over the past decade-plus. Stone is the Golden Knights’ second-leading scorer with 60 points in 42 games. He just helped Canada reach the final at the Olympics before losing to the U.S. in overtime.
It might still be winter in Minnesota, but spring is in the air for people lined up at the Dairy Queen in Moorhead, Minnesota, for its annual opening. The event is a community tradition, no matter what the weather. The Dairy Queen “heritage store” has operated for 77 years and offers treats found almost nowhere else. People bundled up in coats, hats and gloves in freezing cold to line up Sunday for ice cream treats. March is very much a winter month in the upper Midwest, and the first day of the month can often bring subzero cold or heavy snow. But at the Moorhead Dairy Queen, it seemed like a bit of a summer day — almost.
President Donald Trump has taken the United States into war with Iran despite decades of self-professed aversion to foreign entanglements, particularly in the Middle East, and repeated pledges to focus primarily on the Western Hemisphere with an “America first” agenda. Trump’s decision to launch strikes with Israel on Iran’s leadership, military and critical infrastructure this weekend follows what his supporters maintain was months of patient yet unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a diplomatic solution over U.S. concerns about troubling Iranian behavior that posed unacceptable risks to U.S. and allied interests. Yet, even his closest advisers have been unable to point to any specific imminent threat to the U.S. from Iran that required urgent action.
A heated U.S. Senate race in Texas is entering its final stretch before voters decide Tuesday who will be their party’s nominee in November. Candidates are locked in a tough three-way race for Republicans and a toss-up, head-to-head for Democrats, all making last-ditch pleas to voters on Sunday. Incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn is trying to hold on to the seat he has held since he was first elected in 2002. He is facing an unusually tough reelection challenge from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt. On the Democratic side, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett and state Rep. James Talarico are locked in a spirited race.
John Mobley Jr. scored 21 points to lead Ohio State to an 82-74 win over No. 8 Purdue. A crowd that included a loud contingent of Boilermakers fans watched the Buckeyes revive their fading NCAA Tournament hopes and beat Purdue for the third time in a row. Purdue led by as many as seven in the first half, but Ohio State used a 14-3 run to open up a 23-19 lead on Amare Bynum’s 3-pointer with 6:44 to go. Trey Kaufman-Renn had 19 points and was Purdue’s main offensive weapon in the second half as the Boilermakers went cold from the outside.
Mikayla Blakes scored 34 points to lead No. 5 Vanderbilt to a 87-77 victory over Tennessee. Blakes scored eight points in a 12-2 run late in the third quarter for the Commodores (27-3, 13-3 Southeastern Conference). Aubrey Galvan added 24 points and Sacha Washington had 16 points and eight rebounds. The Volunteers (16-12, 8-8), who lost their sixth straight game, were led by Talaysia Cooper’s 23 points. Janiah Barker added 17 points and eight rebounds, Nya Robertson had 12 points and Zee Spearman 10.

After going unbeaten in February, the Spurs were shut down to open March, never recovering from the Knicks’ 26-2 run in the first half and losing for the first time since Jan. 31 in Charlotte. Victor Wembanyama had 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks, but a Spurs team that became the first in NBA history to go unbeaten and score at least 110 points in every game while playing at least 10 in a month fell flat after a fast start.
Will Power and Mick Schumacher had a brutal start to new chapters in IndyCar at the season debut in downtown St. Petersburg. Schumacher crashed out before he completed a lap in his series debut. Sting Ray Robb and Santino Ferrucci collided early, and Schumacher had nowhere to go. Officials gave Robb a 30-second penalty, but the race was over for Schumacher and Ferrucci. Power’s debut for Andretti Global also went wrong on his 45th birthday. He hit the wall on lap 21, then returned several laps down after repairs.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed point guard Ryan Nembhard to a standard NBA contract after he thrived as an undrafted rookie free agent on a two-way deal. The agreement fills the roster spot created when the Mavericks waived point guard Tyus Jones. The 11-year veteran who was part of the three-team, nine-player trade that sent 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis from Dallas to Washington. The Mavericks also filled two openings for two-way contracts by signing guard John Poulakidas and forward Tyler Smith. Dallas waived two-way guard Miles Kelly to make room for both signings.

Booker surpassed 1,800 career points on Sunday, becoming the seventh player in program history to pass that mark. Lee started the game with a fast break layup to put Texas ahead and the Longhorns never trailed. The Longhorns forced 19 Crimson Tide turnovers, blocked five shots and recorded seven steals. Jessica Timmons had 24 points in the final home game of her Alabama career.
Top prospect Konnor Griffin has homered for the third time this spring in the first inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals. The 19-year-old Griffin is ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 prospect. He started at shortstop for the Pirates and hit a two-run shot off Kyle Leahy to give Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead. Griffin went deep twice against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. The Pirates drafted Griffin in the first round in 2024. He reached Double-A last year, where he hit .337 with a .960 OPS in 21 games for Altoona.
Top-seed Phantom BC will be missing star Aliyah Boston for the rest of Unrivaled’s postseason as the post player is out with a right lower-extremity injury. Boston, who was the 3-on-3 league’s Defensive Player of the Year, helped Phantom to the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. The team had a bye to the semifinals matchup against No. 6 seed Vinyl that will be played Monday in New York. She averaged 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks for Phantom this season. Boston was the WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2023.

“Scream” is still making a killing. Thirty years after the original slasher movie opened in theaters, “Scream 7” debuted with a franchise-best $64.1 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. The bigger-than-expected opening is a win for Paramount, which on Friday announced its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. In a so-far sluggish 2026 at the box office, “Scream 7” managed the best debut of the year, easily displacing last weekend’s champ, the Stephen Curry-produced animated film “GOAT,” from Sony Pictures. “GOAT” dropped to second place with $12 million in its third weekend.

St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol has signed a two-year contract extension through at least the 2028 season. The deal that was announced Sunday includes a club option for 2029. Marmol has been in charge the past four seasons and provides some stability for an organization that is resetting under new president Chaim Bloom. The 39-year-old Marmol led the Cardinals to the National League wild-card round in his first season as manager. But he has failed to return to the playoffs the last three years, and St. Louis was just 78-84 last season.
No. 7 Florida has closed out an unbeaten February with its ninth consecutive victory. This one was a 111-77 drubbing of 20th-ranked Arkansas that the defending national champion Gators hope will improve their chances of landing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Florida pounded the Razorbacks in the paint, outscored them from long range and clinched at least a share of the Southeastern Conference title. The Gators then partied on Billy Donovan Court with hats and T-shirts and unveiled a banner commemorating their eighth league crown. Coach Todd Golden called it “just a great night for our program.”

Every Lunar New Year for the past 14 years, a Southern California Buddhist temple has displayed what it calls the “10,000 Buddha Relics.” According to temple leaders, this display includes nearly a million relics — including a tooth and finger bone of the Buddha. In Buddhism, relics are believed to be blessings from the Buddha and other enlightened beings that hold the power to heal and bring peace. They are also said to grow and multiply. Scientific testing on these relics have been scarce and inconclusive. But many Buddhists say they are not concerned about authenticity; to them, it’s simply a matter of faith.

A little coaching and love from her superstar dad did the trick. LeBron James’ 11-year-old daughter held a shooting session of her own at Chase Center on Saturday night after he concluded his own warmup routine. She also dribbled on the baseline as he dribbled, and James caught a glimpse and gave her a smile, then Zhuri came out on the court for some shots from different spots around the key. Zhuri even threw him an alley-oop and James slammed it home. They shared a sweet handshake and he told her “love you” before heading back to the locker room.
